Three main frequency ranges can be distinguished on visual inspection:

• High (>7 Hz),
• Medium (4–7 Hz)
• Low (<4 Hz).  

Frequency will not be discussed further excepting to state that is only moderately useful, but usually obvious, in Holmes tremor or myorhythmia, and useful, but requires EMG, in orthostatic tremor.
